Christiaan Alting von Geusau
LAW AND LEADERSHIP
Christiaan worked as an attorney at international law firms Houthoff in Amsterdam and AKD in Brussels (1996-2004), then in Vienna first as General Counsel & Chief Development Officer (2004-2014) and subsequently as President and Rector (2014-2023) of ITI Catholic University. During his 20 years’ tenure, he brought the university from a struggling institution in 2003 to a thriving and financially healthy institution by 2023, raising over 30m Euros in income, building a new campus and launching programs that led to its largest student body ever.
POLITICS AND EDUCATION
Christiaan in 2010 founded and is President & CEO of the International Catholic Legislators Network (ICLN), a non-profit and non-partisan organization with offices in Vienna, Washington D.C., Singapore and Nairobi. The ICLN educates and connects legislators globally. In 2013 he also founded the private high school Schola Thomas Morus, where he serves as Chairman of the Board. In 2022 Alting von Geusau launched the ICLN’s Fellowship of Young Christian Global Leaders to educate and connect the next generation for political leadership.
ACADEMIC CAREER
Von Geusau obtained master’s degrees at Leiden University in The Netherlands and then at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, subsequently with distinction earning his doctorate in legal philosophy at the University of Vienna, Austria. He is a tenured professor of law and education at ITI Catholic University (Austria) and holds an honorary professorship at the law faculty of San Ignacio de Loyola University (Peru). He speaks and publishes internationally.
Christiaan Alting von Geusau speaks Dutch, English, German, French and Spanish and has lived and worked in The Netherlands, the United States, Germany, Austria, Belgium and France.
